Moth

I need help to identify this moth. I found it on one of my wall baskets this morning. I moved it to the back garden so that I might photograph it. Its wing span when at rest was apporoximately one and three quarter inches. I live on the Isle of Skye in Portree.

This is the true colour though some of my photographs lent it a more yellowy red colour. Immediately I saw it I thought Hawk Moth but I have been unable to find a similar pattern amongst Hawk Moths on the internet.

Do any of you know what it is?
