Lugton

Another in a series of images from the former Lanarkshire and Ayrshire Railway.

This time we have Lugton from the air. Here we can see one of the reasons why the line had difficulties. The trackbed of the L&AR from Uplawmoor can be seen running in a straight line from the top centre to the right side near the bottom. The open line between Barrhead and Kilmarnock follows a gentle s-bend from left to right. Both lines had stations in the village which are now closed.
