The River Walk
Another day of relaxation and I can honestly it has been a lovely weekend, but why do they go so quick? Where's the blue box when you want to slow time down?
This afternoon's walk provided a number of potential blips from beautiful scenery to interesting features to wildlife. I took a stroll down the side of the river Nedd and on the other side of me was the Neath canal, very peaceful apart from when you get close to the A465 Heads of the Valley road. I've not ventured on part of this walk and it varied quite dramatically from very overgrown and enclosed to wide open fields, a very pleasant walk.
It was wonderful to hear the birds singing so clearly as I walked, don't know about you but it lifts my spirits when I hear them. I also came across a load of swifts (at least I think that's what they were) swooping up and down and chasing each other across the fields. My camera is not quite up to the task in catching them even though I tried my best, may need to invest I think if I want to take those types of photos.
I'm also excited about the potential for future blips as a fellow walker on the route confirmed to me that he regularly sees Kingfishers on the river bank. Definitely worth investing for them alone me thinks.
So today's blip was a shot I took on the river bank, this tree looks dead but it's like everything in life don't judge it on its looks. What's its story? Why did it get into the state it is?
To finish here is a poem by Alicia Page, 2010:
Right across the river bend there's a warm gentle breeze.
Right across the river bend are trees with yellow leaves.
Right across the river bend the water reflects the sun.
Right across the river bend is a smell of innocence.
Right across the river bend a robin's egg is broken.
Right across the river bend are peaceful mountain valleys.
Right across the river bend a dandelion is carried.
Right across the river bend are fields of shiny green grass.
Right across the river bend are memories made to last.
