Lure Fishing
The weather forecast was windy and wet for today so I got up reasonably early and took the boat down to Tingalpa Creek which is a local estuary. It has good cover from windy days although as we found out, you can't avoid a shower.
We? Yes, Jo came along with me. Willingly!
The boat? I got to have my first go with the bow mounted electric motor. The mangroves are very shallow and I was pleased to see that I could manouver the boat into less than a foot of water to retrieve snagged lures. The foot control for the electric motor will take a bit of getting used to though. Fishing from the casting deck while being able to precisely target the boat to where you want it is a bonus I hadn't counted on when shopping for a boat. The electric motor really makes the boat a lot more versatile. Not a single lure lost too!
Fish? Not a single bite. I was using lures only though and I need some mentoring with my technique. I wasn't too unhappy though. These initial trips on the boat are more about learning the package than anything else.
Rain? Yes, it poured after about an hour as a squall came over. If I had been on my own I would have stayed out but with Jo in the boat I elected to lessen her discomfort and call it a day.
Next? Maybe we can make a quick trip out tomorrow afternoon. The electrician is coming tomorrow to install the lights in the kitchen.
