Jesmond Dene.

We went for a stroll in Jesmond Dene this morning.
It is a narrow wooded valley that provides a wildlife corridor right into the centre of Newcastle. There is a spectacular mix of native and exotic trees, and it is home to a lot of wildlife such as red squirrels, and kingfishers.
Over the Dene runs Armstrong Bridge, now for pedestrians and cyclists only.It was built in1878 and restored in 1983, and is of an articulated design to deal with the effects of possible mining subsidence.
Just to the left of this shot is a cemetery for pets. A well tended area in a peaceful part of the Dene.

Emma completed the climb of Ben Nevis in three hours. She came down in two and a half hours. The weather was perfect, and the company was great.
Well done Emma we are very proud of you. Sahara Desert next!!
