La Pasionaria

I went for a walk along the river today, and unfortunately my original blip idea didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. However, this statue is still a good one to share.

The saying underneath is by Dolores Ibarurri, known as La Pasionaria (Lotus Flower), and underneath the statue it also states the following:-
"The City of Glasgow and The British Labour Movement pay tribute to the courage of those men and women who went to Spain to fight Fascism 1936 - 1939. 2100 volunteers went from Britain, 534 were killed, 65 of whom came from Glasgow"
