The only place to be...
Well, it's been an easy choice tonight, as I only have one photograph for today! We've had a real scorcher here, culminating in a series of heavy downpours, and I just don't really operate very well in heat. We took the dogs for a walk along the river this morning, thinking we'd get it done before it was too hot - but we left it just a bit too late.
Gemma particularly dislikes hot days - like me she's middle aged and a bit overweight - they do say dogs eventually take after their owners. We both plodded round the couple of miles, but you could see her joy in finding accessible bits of river. I think she would have stayed in it all day given half a chance - and by the end of our walk I was tempted to join her! I just managed to capture her mid-shake - I like the closed eyes and ecstatic expression - as well as the spraying water droplets.
I did take other photographs - a rather tattered purple hairstreak, some flowering old man's beard and a few hoverflies - but in the end they were all consigned to the recycle bin. I'm becoming very disciplined about my failures - though at some point I need to go back and remove the failures from previous years, when I wasn't so ruthless. But that's a job for the winter!!
