A fun night off made incredibly special by one phone call.

On holiday at my parents' croft on Skye, they kindly took the Geeklets whilst shooing us from the house with instructions to have a night off.

We headed North, to Portree. As we searched for accommodation, I phoned the world-famous restaurant, The Three Chimneys. It's usually fully booked months in advance, and it's Skye Highland Games week, so we didn't hold out much hope.

We even started to say "At least we tried" when initial response was unfavourable. But the waitress returned with welcome news - a table at 1930.

The set menu was superb, and time after time they over-delivered.

Highly recommended, despite the price.

Even better, Mrs Geek drove to allow me to sample their cocktails, wine & digestifs.
