Most Easterly point in Australia
Today I had to go to Brisbane (3-4 hrs drive) for the day so left Yamba early this morning and took this photo when we stopped to have the thermos of tea and sandwiches I'd made. It is taken in the early morning mist from a viewpoint overlooking Byron Bay and the point on the right in the distance with the lighthouse on top is the most easterly point on the East Coast of Australia, a beautiful place, and a mecca for young international backpackers and also for the more affluent tourists from all over Australia and overseas.
We've only just arrived home - took the inland route home as the Pacific Highway on the way up was so crammed with trucks, traffic and roadworks. It took longer to get home by doing this but we had very little traffic and beautiful scenery - I had forgotten what a beautiful drive it was through beautiful aussie bush and mountains. I'd also forgotten what a winding, twisting road it is, however we made it home safe and sound.
