River, what river?

I went down to Barcombe Mills this afternoon to walk along the river Ouse. The river is tidal to this point and at one time was part of the canal system. In some places there is now so much Himalayan Balsam that its difficult to see where the river is let alone navigate up it. The flowers give off a sickly sweet smell which I really dislike.

Best news today was the arrival of my sweetpea seed catalogue for 2011-12 and my discovery of a sweetpea photography competitionwhich I just about have time to enter.
