Strike up the band...

I was in the very privileged position of attending the preview night of the Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo as a VIP guest tonight. VIP equalled squishy leather seats, under cover high in the new stand, with tartan blankets to ward off the biting Edinburgh winds!

It was an amazing spectacle as ever, with a full house even for the preview, but this year they really have made the most of the Castle as the backdrop. This isn't a technically great shot, but I chose for the blip as it shows how they used amazing lighting and projection to make the Castle part of telling the story of the night - to incredible effect. Wonderful - and before you ask, yes I did well up as the long piper played his lament from the battlements at the end - I'm Scottish!!
