Sunshiny day

Woke up to lashing rain and general greyness. We decided to be virtuous and clean the kitchen - not just a bit of spit and polish but the works!!!! No sooner were we into it than the sun came out, but we persevered and it is now sparkling! Even plates on the dresser were washed, even the beam above the range was de-cobwebbed and even the large but manky basket full of 'useful' stuff was inspected - do we really need 300 tealights - of course we do!!

Just sped down to Kilcrohane to deliver cards to a new venue. I love this place!! it is so eccentric. Smart ladies in straw hats were out walking, passing fit blokes in lycra, a sheep was hurtling around the road; tractors driven by ex-pupils seemed to be everywhere (and I'm sure they're still not old enough); the Post Office cum wine bar cum cafe was doing a roaring trade and Alice West's, where I went, was chockablock with visitors and locals producing their crafts and art. I also passed a little roadside shop, festooned with bunting, selling home made preserves and cakes ( alternative blip, will get it on another occasion) and I just love the fact that the honesty box still works here. And then there's the scenery!! This is the view across Dunmanus Bay from Alice West's house. Breath-taking. The clouds and colours were amazing. Definitely a bright bright sunshiny day.

Talking of clouds - update on the cloud festival held last week - first in the world too. There were clouds alright but wall to wall greyness, but it sounds as though a good time was had by all nonetheless.

It's Annabel's birthday so we are off to Glebe House in Baltimore for a meal. The original Baltimore!! Famed for half the population being carried off by Algerian pirates in the 17C - true! The food is all fresh from the garden and organic and the garden itself is just incredible. I'm hungry already :)
