While the mosque itself is unlikely to get within two orders of magnitude of the top 25 beautiful mosques, this minaret really struck me as beautiful and appropriate in its urban location close to glass and steel office buildings.
We spotted it walking back from the Natural History Museum and Botanical Gardens on what turned out to be a very sunny day after yesterday's torrential rain. I particularly like the way you can see the stairs and I can imagine the sight of the muezzin climbing them would create a sense of anticipation.
I think I will have to return here to hear the call to prayer on a Friday (I really hope it is not played through low quality loudspeakers!).
Ramadan Mubarak.
P.S. I have put a link to the Oslove graffiti in Thursday's Blip. I had panned to take it yesterday, but by the time I got home I was completely soaked and it was still raining. There is a temptation to fiddle the exif data and post this one anyway, but that would be cheating - I'll just have to accept that rain stopped play.
