Had an OK meal last night - one of the highlights for me was the Wine Waiter who asked me if I wanted another glass of wine. I said yes and he glided off and returned with the bottle and, with that little flourish that lets you know who's in charge, went to pour me a glass. That works so much better when you've actually taken the cork out of the bottle...

Went for a bit of a walk this afternoon - walking through orchards with the fruit almost ripe enough to pick, admiring the rowans full of berries and spotting some of the first mushrooms. And the air was lovely and clean. This was the view across one of the meadows. A bit different for me but I like it.

Afterwards there was tea and cake on the lawn. The cake was interesting - a redcurrant torte that was really lovely but some of the redcurrants were really sour. Like cheek puckeringly sour. Very nice.
