Garage Party

Today's the day .......................... to have faith

You need nerves of steel if you are going to plan a barbeque with invited guests - and you live in the Lake District. There is probably a 90% chance that the weather will be unspeakably bad and the day will be a washout.

And true to form that's how Saturday started - in fact there several flood warnings out for various parts of Cumbria?! Undaunted, we erected a gazebo thing over the barbeque area so we could cook out of the rain if all else failed. But I have to say that spirits were slowly flagging as the unrelenting rain continued through the day.

But then some sort of miracle happened - ten minutes before people were supposed to arrive. The rain stopped and a watery sun appeared from behind the clouds.

We had a great time - the food was good and the surprise band arrived and started to play. We had things set up for them in the garage so it turned into a garage party.

The amazing thing was that none of our guests had phoned to ask if the party was still on. They all had nerves of steel too ...................
