Across the Mersey ...........

We are on a day's leave today, and decided to take a ride out . We headed off to the Wirral Peninsula , and enjoyed a lovely fish and chip lunch in Hoylake. The skies were darkening and it was blowing a gale ,so we headed back to the car and drove on to New Brighton.

New Brighton was once a popular seaside resort , and my husband recalled coming here as a young boy. It would be packed out with visitors, who had come to use the beach and play on the fun fair.
The ferry used to cross the Mersey from Liverpool, but this ceased in 1971.

We had a walk along the promenade and I tried to take some pictures of Liverpool without being blown off my feet.
