The old quarry

Ignabergabrottet. In the early 1900s there were plans to start a cement factory. The area was split off from Smedstorp goods and stock broking A. Faugust in Stockholm bought it. He had ordered machinery from Germany, but the First World War put an end to this project. 1916 bought AB Portland area.
From the late 1920s and throughout the 1930s broke the limestone here. The limestone was transported in its natural state from the pit, on the narrow gauge railway, and then on to Ignaberga where it is processed into cement and soil conditioners. The quarry was then known as Ignabergabrottet.
