Bartholomew's

Detail of Bartholomew's half-inch map of Perthshire, 1957. Definitely worth larging to see the detail.
This shows the route we took on our bike ride in Glen Almond (sorry, Glanalmond) on Saturday (but this wasn't the map we used for it).
Always fascinating to look at old maps and see what's changed - most obvious here, Perth is much bigger and the railway line heading west isn't there any more (even on this map it says 'Rly closed') - and what hasn't: the roads we cycled on look identical. The school is still there though it's called Glenalmond College now, not Trinity College.
We took the B8063 up the glen then came back along the south side of the river, with a wee diversion to Methven for a pint.
