we spent the day at thompson island planting clams, whose populations have dramatically declined over the past decade. this is largely due to the infestation of invasive species in the harbor, such as these green crabs. our supervisors put a large emphasis on killing the crabs to help preserve the ecosystem - these poor guys were no exception...
