Nursery Rhyme #4 Hark, Hark The Dogs Do Bark

Hark hark the dogs do bark
The beggars are coming to town
Some in rags and some in jags
And one in a velvet gown.

A rhyme relating to beggars and minstrels of 13th Century England who spread news and propaganda secretly from one community to another. During the Bubonic plague strangers to a town were not welcome, hence the dogs being on guard to warn of their approach.

Ash did a lot of barking this morning , but sat quietly in the alert position while we had a cuppa by the river.

On Friday we will be setting our marquee up on the show field here. I've been coming to a Lowther event for well over 20 years. The difference is, this year the field hosts a different event with a different organization. Not the Horse Driving Trials but a Country Fair more of the hunting, shooting, fishing variety. Also we are in our own marquee rather than with a County craft group.

So we just thought we would go along this morning and eye-up our pitch and get a feel of the possible layout. Not to mention a walk by the river which has given me several blips already. There are otters and kingfishers on the river but we didn't see them. As we sat with a flask of tea we enjoyed the calm start to the day, well worth getting up before 6am.

My day got somewhat noisier as katkatkat arrived to spend a couple of days down home. She had seen yesterday's blip but is ignoring the comment about dimply knees, DaveH!

Little Miss Muffet is here.
