Weird or what?

Spent the day at Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothian under sunny skies.

It was J who spotted this unusual tree. He was pointing and gesturing into the woods from the path and I was going "What? What is it?" because I couldn't for the life of me see what it was he was trying to direct my eyes to. I was looking at ground level initially though - thinking that he'd clocked a deer or something. It was only when I moved my vision up a little that I saw it. What a very strange way to grow. Being a former Science teacher it's shape reminded me of that of a thistle funnel.
