it bleeds

An occasional recent slight feeling of unsmoothness when turning the handlebars exacerbated itself up to a noticeable grinding noise today, for some reason worse when the rotation was to the right, possibly due to the bike usually sitting with the wheel cocked to the left in order to lean into the angled walls of the corridor. I can't remember which way it was leaning whilst it was parked at work, but it worsened during the day. The fork's been on the due-for-replacement list for a while and now that the headset sounds like it's being held together by rust and the ghost of some grease it's as good a time as any to replace them both. Unfortunate that oldbike isn't yet anywhere near being repaired and usable as any downtime for this one represents having-to-walk-everywhere time, which uses up time quite quickly.
