Operation day.
incredibly nervous before we went in. He had such a hard time in March with the tonsils op and that was much needed. This is elective to revise his trachy scar. It is/was a real mess, badly adhered to his chest and beginning to cause him bother. Also as he gets older it is drawing more unwanted attention. we just had to get past the tonsils and the obstructed airway that caused for him to be safe to do this.
It being elective I think is what made me more nervous. We had to be in by 7.30 am having not fed our very food orientated child since 8 the previous night. Last drink at 8am and he went down at 1.45!!!Poor sod was climbing the walls and his behaviour was going so far down hill . so cross and nervous by now. And it all went... really well, absolutley as it should have done and we got home the same night! Between he and I that has never happened. Neither of us has ever managed a day patient thing in only a day. Tonsils was meant to be 1 maybe 2 days as a caution but was 3 nights and 4 full days.
He was proper grumpy and refusing meds in recovery, mummy magic got the meds in. Got to the ward, massive drink, a yoghurt and then passed out, woke up at tea time for a huge meal of mac a cheese and was good to go.
Mum back today too so she cooked us out tea for us to get in to.
