World Museum of Mining

We visited a few landmarks in Butte today, but the World Mining Museum was definitely a family favorite. It was a mining town pulled together from historical Butte and other local Montana mining artifacts from the last 100+ years. The kids were free to run around and checkout the different buildings such as the school, church, firehouse, etc. This pic features Petersons Sauerkraut Factory where Henry Peterson and his wife used to make fresh sauerkraut every day which Henry would cart to local markets for sale. To the right is an old wagon and, in the background, is the 100-foot steel headframe of the Orphan Girl Mine. If you're interested in learning more, checkout The World Museum of Mining website
