Can't believe I'm quoting Death of a Salesman. I studied it for A level over 20 years ago: took it to pieces, underlined different bits for different themes in different colours. Put it on a shelf after the exams and hoped beyond hope I would never have to look at it again. No offence to Arthur Miller, nothing should be treated the way that an A level syllabus made us treat literature.

But I came home this evening in a dark mood and this line sprang to mind.
