Thomas Traherne window

This window and its partner can be found in a tiny side chapel on the south side of Hereford Cathedral. Designed and created by Tom Denny and dedicated on March 25, 2007, they commemorate the writing of Thomas Traherne (c 1637-74) and his association with Hereford and Herefordshire. Related passages from Centuries and other works have been gathered into each of the four lights. The windows seek to be a visual expression of the visionary beauty and the richness of Traherne's imagery.
In one, a figure stands in wonder and in one-ness with creation:
You never enjoy the world aright till the sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens, and crowned with the stars.
In the other, a gate opens to reveal a city - Hereford - crowded with its inhabitants:
The city seemed to stand in Eden or to be built in Heaven.

The glass and its colour appears wonderfully thick and encrusted with detail.
