Aintree

Today we were invited to the races at Aintree by some good friends of ours, it was such an amazing day. We were picked up at 9:30 am with our friends and were driven to Aintree. We had VIP tickets and were in a box right next to the Grand National starting line. We had champagne and cake for mid-mornings and then had a gorgeous 4 course meal with lots more wine and champagne (it was all free!). There was 7 races in total and we had fun betting on them. We won on most races, but lost money overall- I definatately expected that though!
The only problem was that wearing not much more than a dress, pashmina and headress, it was FREEZING! I felt really sorry for the ladies who weren't in a box, I couldn't have lasted.
Waiting for our driver, my husband nearly got arrested as nature called (with a bladder full of bubbly) and went to relieve himself. Somehow he managed to sweet talk the policeman and they ended up having a laugh together! Thank goodness!
We went back to a marriot nearby for a few more (not needed) drinks and had a really good laugh. What a day!
