If pirates wore...
... sunglasses. They'd look like this!

The editing of this one is fairly subtle, I hope.
The first difference is that this one is slightly less saturated than the original, which has a decidedly red face.
The second is that I've done a bit of tweaking with his eye. I used a couple of layers to sharpen and brighten his eye . The first was to copy the background layer then apply the high pass filter at about 20 pixels to it, reveal a black layer mask and set it to soft light blend mode. Then, one was a 50% grey layer set to overlay blend mode. And a final layer which is a hue/saturation layer with the lightness at +25. Zoom into the eye and paint onto the layer masks for each layer to reveal the effect - lightening the iris and white of the eye / the catchlight etc as well as sharpening just the eye. Sounds tricky, but if you record these steps as an action, then it makes it much simpler for the future.
After that. Sharpen the whole lot. Flatten layers and save.
Tip of the Day:
Again, nothing to do with today's shot, but I did rather like these Urban Abstract Photography Tips which I saw earlier today. Love a bit of idea inspiration now and again!
