A Collector of Oddities

This is Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca AKA the false chanterelle. It can be mistaken for the chanterelle as it is a similar shape and colour. The easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the gills. The chanterelle does not have gills, instead the stem is fluted.

This mushroom is not poisonous but it is not particularly recommended for eating. Something obviously likes it though!
