Borage
Allotment fun.
We decided the raspberry patch was sick.
THE PLAN; Dig it up, take out the best young plants, tidy the bed and set up the young plants as a fruit hedge.
Today was dig it up. Some of the roots were mixed with ancient brambles and hawthorn. A mattock and the demolition bar were required to get rid of the grandfather of all root balls. Don't know if we got it all and I seem to have displaced millions of creepy-crawlies, now homeless!
Anyway, this is our borage. Grown for green manure, it's a great lump of a plant with hairy leaves and these magnificent flowers. You can use them in salads and drinks. There are pink ones too, on the same plant.
