The road to the San Andreas Fault

Today involved a trip to the Carrizo Plain National Monument, which features the San Andreas fault running along the east side of the Monument, a lovely salt playa and lots of interesting vegetation and fauna. The fault was fascinating. In this one, it is in the far background. The interpretive center is only open 6 months of the year, and this isn't one of them and when it is open it is only open 4 days a week. This is sad because it is a really wonderful place.
