Colorado Lagoon Pelican

I picked up my family after a work party at the Colorado Lagoon here in Long Beach. My daughter is a summer intern there and asked my wife to help with a restoration project., which is code for redistributing mulch. In our efforts to be more ecologically conscious, they walked the mile and half to the lagoon, but were too tired after a couple of hours of shoveling to walk back. I saw this pelican sitting on an old pier abutment when I arrived to pick them up. He was very patient, sitting in the same spot as I walked up and down the beach shooting different compositions to get this final result.
