Catkins
Bit of a dither whether to blip a sleeping cat (once again!) or this pussy willow. I can't remember the exact type of willow it is, but I was assured it would survive in the Orkney climate, and so far it has! To be fair, it is surrounded on two sides by a fence and it is round the side of the garage, so it has a pretty cushy time of it.
Got my tatties and onions planted this morning, and then this afternoon, while I was at work, it rained, so that should have done them some good. This is going to be a great way of keeping a record of my gardening! For years I used to write a diary religiously every night, but have given it up now, so this is my substitute.
When my grandfather died, my grandmother threw out his notebooks, in which he wrote each night what he had done in the garden that day. She said she didn't think anyone would be interested in how many rows of beans he'd planted or when. Such a shame - I think they would have been fascinating.
Sometimes I wish I could blip sounds instead of photos - the skylarks are singing so beautifully just now - it's glorious to hear them, or the noise of the gulls following the ploughs in the fields . . . . Just a thought!
