The Grass IS Always Greener on the OTHER side!
This elephant youngster was attempting to get at the grass beyond his enclosure.
We're at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, doing a "Snore 'n Roar" sleepover! We got to go behind the scenes and see the elephant sleeping area, behind the sleeping cages of the lion pride, plus the kitchen frig with the foods and treats they are served, and interact with a Pygmy African Falcon, a Boa Constrictor, and a Spring Haas African Rodent. We did a walking tour after dinner, came back, had the option to roast marshmallows over a sunken fire-pit (to make S'mores), then another walking tour before lights out. We slept in tents right in the middle of all the African animal areas. The northern tents could hear the elephants, the southern tents heard the Lions roaring early in the morning and the eastern tents (that was us) could hear the Rhinos on the ridge right below us.
It was AMAZING!
