F.f.f.f.f.freezing!!
They said it was coming and so it did.
Strange how beautiful sunshine can be so deceptive from indoors.
Step outside today and it was a different story! The icy blast was (apparently) coming straight off the Antarctic. By the time it reached us the -24 degrees or so from the ice cap had warmed to a positively balmy 5 degrees!
And then - a spot of magic. In the 20 plus years I have lived here inNelson I have never seen snow down at town level (others who have lived here 40 plus years had never seen it either) so when a few (admittedly small!) flurries began falling the kids went mad. The energy level and excitement was palpable right round school. OK - so it didn't last long and it certainly never looked like settling, but for a fleetingly short time it did snow and we witnessed it :)
Decided a drive out to Rabbit Island was in order after work but had forgotten they shut the gates at sundown so didn't get my beach walk :( Probably quite good actually as by this time I was really starting to feel the cold bite. Toi tois in the chilled breeze is as good as it got. And when I got home a bit before 6.00 the temperature was 3 degrees. I think it's going to be a cold night tonight.
G'night.
