Roche Rock (pronounced Roach)
Cornwall holiday, day 4.
Today (well it was today when we did it. it wasn't actually today as this is a backblip) we went to the beach in the morning- the same one as on Sunday and then this amazing place in the afternoon.
The reason our holiday was in Cornwall was because we were going to a wedding of a good friend from uni. We were in the moutaineering club together and him and some other mountaineers were also in Cornwall for the week so we met up at this rock for some climbing.
It's an amazing place. This huge granite outcrop plus some smaller ones round it are on their own in the middle of heathland. And on the top is the remains of a 15th century chapel. There's 2 ladders up to the top or you can do real climbing on the rocks.
Ross did 1 bouldering route which I was not doing without a mat so I did a route on the same rock (not the one in the photo but the one I was leaning against to take this photo) with a rope. Cameron and Andrew did some scrambling and the others we were with did a couple of routes on the main rock. Top left is Mike who I met for the 1st time that day. Bottom left is Ross (not my Ross), one of our uni friends and coming down the ladder in the red helmet is Gwyd who's wedding we were going to/have been to.
