it tastes nicer than it looks, honest
So, yesterday our everso nice next door neighbours asked us if we wanted some plums. It would have been churlish and perhaps a little rude to refuse, so we said yes please. And lo, a very large plastic crate of plums arrived in the kitchen. We separated them into 4 piles: best (eat in a few days), eat now, stew now, oh dear.
The oh dear pile has been abandoned, and this is what I did with some of the stew now pile - it's plum sauce and it really is delicious. Made with plums (obviously), some sugar, butter, vinegar, allspice and garlic.
Apparently carnivores eat it with game and red meat. I have no idea what us veggies can eat it with... suggestions please.
(we're working our way through the eat now pile, and saving the best pile for later this week)
(Mrs BH says food colouring, but that's just to make it look less like something unmentionable, rather than what to eat it with... I hope)
