Beets

When I was a wee bit older than Bella, me and my friend pulled up all my Mums onions long before they were ready. Aunty Liz gave Mum a recipe for beetroot chutney to use them up, which turned out to be excellent.
My Granny now makes it every year and every year I grow beetroots for her which we take down on the train in September/October.
She hasn't been too well this year so I hope she's back to her old self for the Autumn as Bella chose a special striped variety this year. I can almost guarantee that my Granny will say

'Oh these are a bit diffrent. Alright if you like that sort of thing...'
