HAND OF MAN
or woman as the case may be !! -
I've decided where possible to get a bit more edgy with my pix - and whereas in the past I would have cropped out the " hand of man " in my Natural History pix - I'm not going to - but rather try and expose the dangers of our native fauna and flora.
This pic (as some might know) is taken at the bird hide at Miranda on the firth of Thames. Right along the front of the seashore is this electric fence to stop the cows trampling the seashore. There is even some animal crap in the hide !! Good old country crap is OK but the point about the electric fence reminds me of the way which we are pushing our natives back to suit our lifestyles - and of course when will it end??
The ones in great danger here are the wading birds nesting in the River beds - The wry-bill comes to mind as I was strongly reminded by the Miranda Manager - Keith Woodley - whose second book will be published very soon.
Nevertheless a great opportunity to return to Miranda and feel the vibes of this important part of the flyways for the migrating birds-like E7 ( spoken of a week or so ago )
best everyone from a sodden Auckland NZ.- am I pleased I'm not at home in ChCh (again)!!
