Loch an Eilein
Had a lovely walk round Loch an Eilein with C and the dogs early this morning. I had cycled up to the loch on previous days and thought it would make a nice wander for us. And we got a lovely morning, still and bright and we didn't meet a soul until we had almost returned to the car park. The gaelic name for the loch means loch of the island and here it is - the castle was once the stronghold for the Wolf of Badenoch around the turn of the 15th century was linked to the mainland by a causeway which disappeared in the 18th century when the loch's water level was raised.
There's so much to do and some lovely scenery around Aviemore - will definately have to come back and spend more time here. Off to Landmark at Carrbridge for the afternoon now.
