Happy Birthday Granny

Today is Granny's birthday - Happy Birthday Granny!! It's been another fun but crazy day. Little Miss was up quite early, meaning we had lots of time playing. Granny and Grandad got out to work early, so Uncle Simon got almost jumped on into playing.
We were doing a birthday dinner for Granny, so the three of us headed to the supermarket to chose something to cook. Sadly Katie's suggestions weren't really helpful, but she did run round trying to choose lots of things. We took the shopping home and made the desserts ready to go.
We then got a bag packed and headed into town. She fell asleep, so Simon and I had some lunch and did the few jobs that needed done, before we headed down to the beach! It was an exciting day as it was the first time I got to meet my youngest nephew. He has the most cheeky big grin! Katie had fun playing on the beach - she closely inspected a crab, had a good splash and swim in the sea, and spent LOTS of time sliding down the side onto the sand, like in the photo. Come time for ice cream, her uncle was a little surprised I let her have a cone rather than a tub, but she made light work on it and then switched to mine (she likes the wafer bit best of all of it!)
We headed home to get started with the cooking and she did lots of walking, although also got carried a fair bit too (Uncle Simon has long legs and takes some keeping up with when you're not quite 2!)
We gave Granny her birthday presents and cards. She'd chosen the card I gave granny because it had cats on. She was still just as excited when she saw Granny open it! She had a blast playing with aunts, uncles, granny and grandad. She's been practising her colours a lot the last few days, she's pretty much got yellow, red, green and often blue. As grandad described it, she knows purple is a colour, but isnt always sure which one. Same goes for pink!
Uncle Simon and I made dinner (he did the hard bits, he's a chef, he taught me as we went!) I learnt how (and succeeded in doing) make ravioli from scratch, pan fry mackerel, create a beetroot and turnip puree (which actually tasted fabulous) and several other things.
She's had a fantastic day, and was extremely ready for her bed when the time came!
