Responsibility

I've always found the UT tower to be majestic and a proud icon of the university, especially when it stands so tall against the blue of the sky.

What I especially enjoy are the words imprinted upon it. The university has a great responsibility to set high expectations for the 50,000 students who walk by and gaze upon it:

"Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set ye free".

At the bottom is a new addition from my undergrad years. A simple plaque stating: "Core purpose: to transform lives for the benefit of society".

The other half that was left off in my humble opinion is "and in this process undergo transformation to better one's self". That's the hope, anyways.
