Still on a mission...
We stayed closer to home today and went to Hever Castle in Kent (a.k.a. 'The Garden of England'). Not sure the history lesson quite sank in, though, as my son is convinced that Anne Boleyn's head was chopped off by Horrid Henry!
It was another great day out, with plenty of photo opportunities (apart from in the actual castle itself, where some spoilsport had put a 'No photography' sign outside the entrance). As far as the kids were concerned, the very best bit was the Water Maze. Like a normal maze, you have to find your way into the middle but instead of getting to a dead-end of hedge if you go the wrong way, one false move and you're hit by a jet of water. No-one apart from me seemed to realise that the point was to not get wet (or maybe it was!) but a fun time was had by all and, true to form, my son managed to fall in, much to his delight!
