A day at the Beach

Today was my final day in the UK so planned a trip to the beach with family. That was until we pulled up at mum and dad's and there was an ambulance outside.

Mum felt rough so had sat in the chair and waited for dad to come in from walking the dog, turns out she was in the middle of a heart attack. Due to a stroke earlier in the year they couldn't treat it with drugs so called the air ambulance who whizzed her to Stoke where they did an angioplasty (some weird mesh stint thing in her artery) via keyhole in her arm.

Amazing modern medicine, by the time Dad, Sister and I had caught up in the car she was sitting up in bed asking for a cup of tea, post-op. Thank God for good hospitals and surgeons. As much as people moan about our NHS I truely appreciate it, especially after visiting state hospitals in Africa, the story would have been very different there.
