HMS Queen Elizabeth - Lower Block 03
Monday morning and I was rudely woken up by one of my lovely children - no prizes for guessing which one (family members exempt). Anyway, fast forward a few hours and I was soon up north in Gods country. Unfortunately, I was there to work this time.
First stop was Clydebank fuel terminal where I was setting up for their quarterly emissions test - seven hours on Tuesday morning sampling unleaded petrol vapours. The setting up has to be done the night before to allow the test equipment to warm up overnight.
As I was up so early, I was finished at a reasonable hour, so I headed up river to the new Riverside Museum. I did get a few shots of this, but I'm sure I will be there again and will blip this another time. Those of my generation born and bred in Glasgow will no doubt have fond memories of the old transport museum in Albert Road - now I believe known as the Tramway Theatre.
Also in this neck of the woods was Lower Block 3 of the first of the new aircraft carriers being built for the Royal Navy. This was due to by towed by barge round the top of Scotland round to Rosyth Dockyard - where this beast will help to assemble the carriers. Whether both carriers will enter service, is an emotive and political issue, which I wont go into here. It was nice to get a decent shot of this - probably the closest I will get to these new ships.
Ironically, I passed by Govan shipbuilders Tuesday lunchtime as this was being towed out. Unfortunately I couldn't stop - so, for those who are interested, I found this to watch. Happy viewing.
