A new day dawns....

Meet Cuma.

Those of you who have been following my journal will have come across a few of the sculptures that we are collecting for our garden. Today we went back to see the mass array of sculptures that Cuma ( pronounced Jumar, meaning Friday) has made. I wanted to show my friend who is visiting at the moment.
This is Cuma, saying goodbye to the small sculpture my friend's children chose for their dad, back home in the UK.
As he prepared to give it away he said, "this woman is from Diarbaka (sp?). She is sad, very sad as her husband beats her. Now issue goes to Istanbul she will be stronger than the men."
My friend and I were stunned, particularly due to the fact that she has just come out of a rather volatile marriage. It was like the artist knew. A tear was shed. Her son picked this sculpture out of the thousand that were there, them the sculptur told this amazing story, in Turkish. A special, poignant moment.
