Old Friends

This friend, whom I haven't seen in 11 years, called me up today to see if I could have lunch while she just happened to be passing through town. She's one of those people with whom, despite not having seen her in 11 years, I can easily pick up right where we left off as if we've been friends all along. We met when we were about 15 and 16 years old when we spent a summer together in a French language immersion school. We were both very glad to see each other and to find out that we each think the other one is doing a pretty good job of "living the dream" (although it rarely feels that way to me...at least in my work life). She is off to California where she's an amazing surgeon who repairs people's sight. How cool is she?
