Just a parrot's life

my senegal parrot Mickey is suspected with cushings disease. This is a disease which is most likely found in dogs and cats, but NOT in parrots, but Mickey does have all the signs. Problems with her uropygial gland, gaining weight, fatty and big liver, being hungry all the time, drinking way too much water, fat through all her body and in the blood serum, etc so now drs. Yvonne van Zeeland from the University clinic in Utrecht, is doing research with Mickey. Till now only 2 or 3 parrots were suspected having cushings but in only one bird it was diagnosed after necropsy! (a cockatoo).. and this is all over the world. Okay.. for me the only thing matters is that they diagnose what Mickey has ánd that she can be treated, but it is also a good thing for science I guess. For Yvonne this is a VERY interesting case for sure!
