Well, I'm still recovering from a truly hilarious and crazy night out last night. In the end most people felt too tired to venture out so it was just me and Lisa who trundled down to the tin pub. The band duly arrived and got stuck in. What they lacked in musical accomplishment they made up for in enthusiasm (she says politely and kindly!!) They were all of fairly advanced age and the fiddle player was in a different key to everyone else, he may even have been playing a different tune. Accompanying them - whether expected or not was unclear - was a very large Indian man in full Maharajah regalia!!! Even by tin pub standards, this was bizarre. The maharajah was playing the tambourine - very very badly. As the moment took him, he would leap up and do a spot of twirling. The choice of songs was excellent though - Bantry Bay, Irish Rover, Pair of Brown Eyes, and everyone was joining in gustily. What a wonderfully eclectic group of people too - the local farmers propping up the bar, a group celebrating a 40th birthday party (they'd already been celebrating for some time); assorted cosmopolitan blow-ins (Dutch, English, German, American, French); a couple of families on holiday, some bemused tourists; various wwoofers and couch surfers and then in came Graham Norton and a posse of very handsome men!! He has a holiday home here and has just arrived for a month, in fact he's practically a neighbour. He's very charming, very unpretentious and just fits in, and I got two kisses :) I walked home in the pitch dark at 12.30 just laughing at the wonderful and chaotic assortment of people that can fit into a small pub in the middle of nowhere.

A very pleasant day - headed off to Bantry this morning to get bits and bobs and the sea was looking wonderful, as were the wild flowers. Please look at this image in large because I've managed to capture a bee as well!! I could say that I spent hours waiting for the bee to buzz by, but no - pure chance :) Other than that, picked the last of the blueberries, did a lot of weeding around the squash and cleared a path. Himself is about to cook so I shall have a small glass of something refreshing while the sun is still shining.
