Cricket Tea Connie
One of the best things about playing cricket is the teas. Pork pies, cake and a cuppa, very civilised. The standard can vary, but to be honest they never really rise above average.
Until today.
Connie here does the teas once a year for Ashwell Cricket Club, and she doesn't do it by halves. The bread was gorgeous (baked in the village), the sandwiches had excellent fillings with quality ingredients. Chipolatas that tasted of real meat. Crisps. THERE WAS A CHEESE BOARD!!! And this was just one table. The other was a feast of cakes, all freshly baked that morning by Connie. Lemon drizzle cake, banana cake, shortbread and chocolate tarty things. AND scones with cream and rasberry jam (homemade).
Thank you Connie, it was the highlight of the game, if not the season!!
